Our 2226 office building in Lustenau, Vorarlberg, received a surprise visit from a prominent visitor last Thursday. Austria’s President Alexander Van der Bellen and his wife Doris Schmidauer listened as Jürgen Stoppel, a partner at BEA Lustenau, explained how the building does without ventilation, cooling and heating systems.
Van der Bellen was very impressed. And when Jürgen Stoppel showed him the tiny technical shaft with the water and electrical installations, the pleasantly surprised President asked, “Is that really all?”
In any case, the 2226 office building served to convince the Austrian President that sustainable building also means comfortable building.
The unofficial visit came at the suggestion of Kurt Fischer, Mayor of Lustenau and an avowed fan of the 2226 office building.
